Mark Lague, a Montreal artist on the rise, travels around the world seeking cities that inspire and intrigue him. New York and San Francisco are among his favorites in the U. S., while London and Rome delight him in Europe. Sometimes the image that catches his eye is a daytime scene with bright colors in the vehicles and buildings. Other times, as in Manhattan Traffic, it is a night scene with all the drama and color of city lights balanced by the negative space of the dark night sky. Either way, Lague's contemporary, vibrant "urban scapes" are exciting and exhilarating.
