Released in 1999, The Iron Giant is regarded as one of the greatest animated features ever made. This artwork was originally created for a paper print that was released at the Warner Bros. Studio Stores and sold out in 2000. To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the print Warner Bros. authorized this deluxe canvas version of only 100 pieces to be released.
The story depicts a boy who finds an enormous metal-clad giant hidden in the woods by his house.
As the story takes place during the Cold War in 1957, thoughts and paranoia that the Giant is a threat to America's well being, quickly ascend.
The Iron Giant is one of the last animated features to be fully hand-drawn and painted. The Iron Giant is directed by Brad Bird who went on to direct The Incredibles and Ratatouille, and is considered one of the great animation directors of our generation. The characters were voiced by Eli Marienthal, Jennifer Aniston and Harry Connick, Jr.
The Iron Giant is based on the 1968 novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Nebula Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
